Dr. Karen Chad

Dr. Karen Chad was appointed to the Enterprise Saskatchewan board in January 2010.

Dr. Chad is the Vice-President Research at the University of Saskatchewan (U of S). She is also a faculty member in the U of S College of Kinesiology, where she has earned five teaching awards including the 2005 U of S Master Teacher Award.

With a PhD from the University of Queensland in Australia, Dr. Chad is a prolific researcher and has supervised numerous graduate students. Dr. Chad holds numerous research grants and obtained a $2‑million federal grant for a community-partnered research project that has become a model for communities across Canada. In 1997, she received the YWCA Woman of Distinction (Health and Education) award and in 2006 was awarded the Saskatchewan Centennial Medal.

Dr. Chad sits on a number of national boards and has chaired or overseen more than 100 key boards, committees, research programs and teams. Honours include a 2004 International Award for “Innovation in Research” and the 2007 National Leadership Award from the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.

2010 CDTF Funding Now Available

The government is calling on Saskatchewan communities that were adversely affected by the economic downturn to apply for funding from the Community Development Trust Fund (CDTF) for economic revitalization projects.
